Flower Care Guide

Prepare a Vase

Choose a clean vase and wash it thoroughly with hot soapy water. Fill it about two-thirds full with clean water. Add the flower food that came with your bouquet.

The flower food contains essential nutrients for your flowers, an acidifier to balance the water's pH, and a sterilizing agent to prevent bacterial growth - helping your blooms stay beautiful longer. The sachet is biodegradable.

Unpack Your Flowers

Take your flowers to the sink. Gently remove them from their packaging while keeping the flowers in their water pack. Place the water pack in the sink, unwrap the cellophane, and let the water drain out.

The packaging materials can be reused or recycled.

Top tip: Leave the flowers tied together to preserve the beautiful arrangement created by your florist.

Prepare the Stems

Trim the stems to help your flowers absorb water effectively. Using secateurs, cut about 2cm off each stem at a 45-degree angle. If you don't have secateurs, use sharp scissors or a knife.

The angled cut prevents stems from sitting flat at the bottom of the vase and makes water absorption easier.

Top tip: Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline in your vase, as they can rot and promote bacterial growth.

Arrange & Position Your Bouquet

Place your bouquet in the prepared vase. Find an ideal location away from direct sunlight, drafts, heat sources, and ripening fruit (which releases ethylene gas that ages flowers).

Avoid placing flowers near radiators, windowsills, or in direct air currents. During summer months, try to keep the area cool to prolong freshness.

Keep Your Flowers Fresher Longer

Change the water every two days, recut the stems each time, and remove any dead flowers promptly. This prevents bacterial growth and helps your bouquet stay vibrant for as long as possible.
